The canvas entitled by Slevogt "In the Park" could be seen in 1913 in the Berliner Gurlitt's gallery. From there it entered another private collection in Berlin. The next owner of the painting was Hugo Naphtali from Wrocław, whose collection was auctioned by Cassirr/Helbing in Berlin on the 17 May 1927. The painting (offered under the title "In green") didn't find a purchaser and was sent back to Wrocław, where it might have been bought by Leo Smoschewer.

The painting belonged to the artworks confiscated by the Nazi government in 1939, in the following year (1940) it was sold, along with another painting by Slevogt to the art dealer Erich Wiese in Jelenia Góra (Hirschberg). Shortly afterwards the previous Berliner antiquarian market entered the Pfalzgalerie in Kaiserslautern.

In accordance with the Washington Convention an agreement was reached between Leo Smoschewer's successors and the museum.
