David Friedmann was a wealthy industrialist and owner of a sugar refinery.

Description of the collection:

The collection consisted of works by German artists, like Max Liebermann, Friedrich Kallmorgen, Adolf Oberländer and Walter Leistikow. Within the collection there were also the paintings by Gustav Courbet, Camille Pissarro, Isaac Israëls, Frits Thaulow and Jean-François Raffaëlli.

The paintings from the collection were sequestrated by the Nazi government.
