Heinz Braune (1880 - 1957)
Biography:

Having graduated studies on history of art in Lausanne, Lepizig and Munich Braune enjoyed a career in the museums of Munich which culminated in his nomination for the position of the Director of State Painting Collections in 1914. 5 years later he was appointed the director of the Silesian Museum of Fine Arts in Breslau. His tenure at this position was characterized by intensified research on medieval art of Silesia and increased prominence of contemporary artists in the museum's collections. This line of development resulted in numerous impressive exhibitions. Braune left Breslau in 1928.

Description of the collection:

During his stay in Breslau Braune's private collection featured, among others, works by Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky.
